Thanks, Glen, for reminding us of PT-109's heritage!
It's very sad to report on the recent deaths of two members of the IPMS Richmond community: James Alvis and Frank Gomillion.
James Alvis passed away last weekend of natural causes. Visitation and burial will be:
Monday, July 24, 2023
Woody Funeral Home
9271 Shady Grove Road

Visitation: 12 noon - 1:00 p.m.
Service: 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Burial at Signal Hill approx. 2:00 p.m.
James was a longtime member of IPMS Richmond and exemplified someone who truly loved the hobby. He was a prolific modeler and his interests spanned all genres and we all will certainly miss his "Show & Tell" presentations.
Frank Gomillion passed away on July 7, 2023 after a prolonged illness. Funeral and burial will be:
Saturday, July 15, 2023
Laurel Hill Funeral Home
10127 Plank Road
Spotsylvania, VA
Funeral: 11:00 a.m.
Burial: Laurel Hill Memorial Park following service
Luncheon: Basilico Restaurant, 7013 Harrison Road, Fredericksburg, 12:30 p.m.
Frank was a member of IPMS Richmond during the 1980-90s. He gravitated towards figure painting and was one of the original members of the Virginia Company of Military Figure Collectors. Although he moved to Fredericksburg he was a frequent attendee at the Old Dominion Open.
Please keep these two gentlemen in your thoughts and prayers.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday, July 17, at the Deep Run Park Recreation Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. (hall opens at 6:00).
Ashley Abernathy will present a demo on cutting and using foam insulation board for model and diorama bases. We will also have our monthly "Show & Tell" and Mike Lyons will return with his hoard of raffle kits.

For all of you Spitfire junkies (and you know who you are!), E.L. has forwarded a "Modeler's Guide to the Spitfire." It's loaded with good info on the Spits but what I found of great interest is the table listing distinguishing features of the different variants.
