June Spare Parts and Meeting

As a reminder, our June 14 meeting will be live and in-person at the Smoketree Community Building! Bob Walls will present a demo on sanding and sanding sticks and will have free samples for everyone who attends. We will also be holding a Swap-n-Sell for those needing to increase (or decrease--ha!) their stash. Bring your own brown paper bags for sneaking said items back into your house.

Chapter Contest: July 12, 2021

Our COVID-delayed chapter contest will be held during our meeting on July 12, 2021 at the Smoketree Community Center.

The contest categories are:

1. Figures
2. Armor/Artillery/Softskin
3. Civilian Cars/Trucks
4. Maritime
5. Aviation
6. Real Space/Sci-fi
   
7. Dioramas & Vignettes
8. Other Subjects
9. Birth Year Entries (Special Category)

As we are expecting a large number of entries, attached below is an editable entry form that you can complete at home PRIOR TO THE CONTEST. Please do so if you are able to lessen the load on the organizers the night of the contest.

Next Meeting: June 14, 2021

Not only is it Flag Day and our first meeting back at Smoketree Community Center after a COVID-related too-long absence, but Bob Walls will present an overview of sandpaper and sanding sticks. Bob's presentation is modeled after one that Scott Bregi did for AMPSCV a couple of years ago.

Bob's overview will cover:

• Review of the different sanding papers available
• Review of the sanding sticks available
• How and when to use these tools during your modeling
• Demonstration of using Norton A275 (400 grit) Self Stick No Fill sandpaper to make your own sanding blocks and “sanding sticks”

Those attending the demo will receive a foot-and-a-half of the Norton A275 roll to try at home! I am still using the sample I received at Scott's demo and can vouch for the quality and usefulness of this product!

Be sure to be there on June 14th!
