June 2023 Spare Parts and Upcoming Meeting

Our next meeting on Monday, June 5, will feature the return of our chapter's June contest--the same categories you all love and a chance for bragging rights until our Christmas Contest in December. No theme, no awards... just good ol' camaraderie. So finish-up those kits you purchased or won at the ODO and let's see the finished models! Be sure to print and LEGIBLY complete a registration form for EACH MODEL you're entering in the contest and bring them with you on Monday. The Center will open at 6:00 p.m. and model registration will begin at that time. Registration forms are on the last page of this month's "Spare Parts."

P-38 Lightning USAAF Flight Manual

Guerry Bowen is one of our members who lives in Chester. Over about the past five years, his health has kept him from attending monthly meetings, but he continues his interest in and support of IPMS-R.  A few days ago, Guerry e-mailed E. L. with something he wanted the club to have. He sent him the official USAAF Flight Manual for the P-38 Lightning. It obviously has everything you would want to know about the P-38... 102 pages of good information. It’s a neat bit of WWII history.

Chapter Contest: June 5, 2023

A highlight of our next meeting on June 5 will be our summer chapter contest! No theme, no awards... just an opportunity to show your completed models.

Categories are the same as for our annual Christmas contest:

6. Real Space/Sci-Fi
7. Dioramas/Vignettes
8. Other Subjects

..... and "Best in Show"

So finish up all those kits you purchased or won at the ODO and bring them to our June meeting.

PLEASE complete the Contest Entry Form before our meeting. Download it by clicking here, complete it LEGIBLY, and bring one for each of your models to the meeting. I will have a few blank copies at the meeting but not enough to cover everyone who wants to enter.

Model registration will begin as soon after 6:00 p.m. as possible. See you then!

Our next meeting will be Monday, May 1, at Deep Run Park Recreation Center. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting begins sharply at 6:30.

Glen Martin will continue his demo on pin washing and detailing techniques.

IPMS Richmond Venue Change

Beginning this month, IPMS Richmond will be meeting in Ballroom B at the Deep Run Park Recreation Building in western Henrico County. The room will open at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
